About
After spending most his working life outside with the elements, Simon Whitehouse has a passion for nature and wildlife photography. Sometimes travelling many miles to get a specific shot, early starts and long days are now part of his routine. On the issue of photo editing, Simon’s view is; “I use photoshop as a tool to give my images that final touch, I do not and will not construct images in the software. I much prefer to get the image as close a perfect as possible in camera. As I shoot exclusively in raw, I use Capture One for raw conversation. Photoshop is then used to add contrast and saturation if required plus any final sharpening to the digital image. Apart from the odd bit of cloning that may be required now and then, that’s about as far as I go in Photoshop.” Simon’s gear consists of the following; - DSLR Bodies – Canon. - Lenses – Canon, Sigma and Tamron. - Digital Media – Sandisk Extreme CF cards and Itank portable hard-drive/ - Flash- Canon 580EX - Filters – Cokin. - Tripods and Heads – Manfrotto. - Beanbags – Wildlife Watching Supplies. - Laptop for editing in the field – Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Notebook. “If anyone wants to know something about one of my images, just ask and I will do my best to offer a full explanation. We also run competitively priced workshops aimed at the beginner to photography who’s looking to fast-track their knowledge and skills.” Simon is also responsible for the content of this website.
